Come See Ann Irwin At Over The Edge Open Reading Thursday 23 Feb. 2012This Thursday I highly recommend coming along to the Over The Edge Open Reading at the Galway City Library and for once, I will probably have the night off myself and able to attend. It is always a great night with a packed house, and this month I really do believe you are in  for a treat with the poet Anne Irwin, for whom I have participated in many creative writing classes through Kevin Higgins  and right at this month once again I am in the same class as Ann and enjoying her wonderful poetry.

Ann is my type of writer and I do believe she will go down very well with the crowd. Softly spoken, she has a lot of subtle humor in her poetry, poetry of the land I like to call it, full of great imagery, nostalgic memories of country life, I always find myself smiling when she reads and learning new words, rustic country words of things I have never heard of before but intrigued to know.

Anne reminds me of Seamus Heaney and Ted Hughes, mixed in the pot with some Patrick Kavanagh, but of course with her own voice and style and I do believe you will love the country life Anne will bring in her breathtaking poetry on Thursday, so do come in support and enjoy.

Also on the night is the novelist Chris Binchy and the short story writer Philip Abbink, so a real mix for this months Over The Edge and as always, followed by open-mic, so if you have a piece of writing waiting to be heard get down to the Library Thursday and get away from the shackles of rubbish TV. See you there.
