Last week was one of the best of the year so far. I was a featured reader at the May Over the Edge Writers’ Gathering, went on a crazy fishing trip and had two new poems published in the Indian Review, an online website I regularly read.
It had been a while since I had done a reading and I cannot show enough appreciation to Susan Millar DuMars and Kevin Higgins for the invite and constant support.
On the night I had the pleasure of reading alongside my good friend Eileen Ní Shuilleabháin whom I had previously worked with on our collection ‘Wayword Tuesdays‘ and Portland native Steve Luttrell, who had a problem with his voice and sounded all Leonard Cohen-like.
Both were amazing. Steve was launching his Irish issue of the American poetry magazine The Café Review (gorgeous journal), which featured poems by Paula Meehan, MacDara Woods, Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin, Thomas McCarthy, and on the night contributors to the issue Lorna Shaughnessy, Órfhlaith Foyle, Susan Millar DuMars, John Walsh, Susan Lindsay, Kevin Higgins, & Aideen Henry read their poems.
A great night followed next day by a long hot crazy fishing trip which can only be discussed over a pint.
Also last week I had 2 new poems published in The Indian Review, you can go check them out here. They are from a small collection I am working on and nearly finished editing.
Next reading will be in August at Ó Bhéal, The Long Valley Bar, Cork so watch this space.
