A Fine Year of Up and Down Books
I've been doing the Goodreads challenge for the past few years now and love the push to read.
This year again, I went with 80 and it's the usual mixed-bag of (little) poetry, fiction, and non-fiction.
Previous years poetry dominated my reading leading to about 120 books a year but I've cut back and read a lot of novels now as well as the usual non-fiction I love.
Top books were The Pull of the Stars by Emma Donoghue, Languages of Truth: Essays 2003-2020 by Salman Rushdie (probably one of my favorite) Fever Dream by Samanta Schweblin, These Ghosts are Family by Maisy Card, Children of the Days by Eduardo Galeano, A History of the Goddess by Edward Dodge, The Renunciations by Donika Kelly, The Immortality Key by Brian C. Muraresku, Blood of the Celts: The New Ancestral Story by Jean Manco, The Perseverance by Raymond Antrobus and everything by George RR Martin and Laurie Lee.
Here are the books below. Comment if you have read them and please recommend similar for 2022.
